My approach is multidisciplinary, based on a multilevel analysis (micro and macro) of systems that contribute to peoples’ suffering. I support folks in understanding themselves, each other, and the mental health field in a manner that empowers them to make informed choices about the best way to proceed.
I support you in incorporating a decolonial and liberatory lens in your mental health work.
I also hold a strong feedback-informed orientation, and am geared towards community-building based on my insight that transformation occurs in the safety of healthy relationships.

Given the racial nature of the immigration system in the U.S, there is an intersectional impact of immigration status and race.
As a first-generation immigrant in the U.S., Dr. Gitika Talwar ("Dr. G") has personal and professional experience that makes her uniquely qualified to address the mental health needs of immigrants in the U.S. She is a former international student from India (from Maharashtra!), who has also survived the Green Card Backlog that plagues Indian immigrants in the U.S.
Dr. G offers customized workshops for groups and organizations interested in mental health of immigrant and BIPOC communities.
I also offer career consultations for folks interested in studying in the U.S. to advance their mental health careers . Using a semi-therapeutic style to explore your hopes and dreams, I offer insights and reflections to help you determine ways to advance your mental health career. I help you make an informed decision about pursuing an education in the U.S.
